Introducing our new name!

Dear Friends,

Thank you for the vital role that you play in bringing hope and a future to children, their families, and communities in Tanzania and Kenya. You are a blessing, and we so appreciate you!

As you may have seen in our recent newsletter, we are excited to be adopting a new name as we move forward with fulfilling our vision. Starting July 1, 2021, we will be called HopeCo. This new name reflects our calling to share transforming hope with those we serve and to do this together, in community with you and those we work alongside in East Africa.

While our name may be changing, our mission remains the same. Like you, our passion is to see lives changed forever and whole communities uplifted and thriving – through education, medical care, economic health, and spiritual growth. Therefore, we will continue to develop our current City of Hope programs in Tanzania, expand our operations into Kenya, relentlessly pursue excellence in everything we do, and continue to build a team of committed partners as we grow together.

I have shared answers to some of the questions that you may have regarding our name change below. I hope that these are helpful. And please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like any clarifications or have any feedback to share with us!

Thank you for choosing to channel your care and generosity into helping vulnerable children and families in East Africa. You are a valued member of the HopeCo community!

Gratefully,

Matt Parker
Chief Executive Officer

Some answers to your questions about our new name

Why are you changing your name?

There are other nonprofits using “City of Hope” as their name. Therefore, we wanted to find a new, unique name that reflects our mission and avoids any confusion with others as we grow our work of creating transformed lives and flourishing communities in East Africa.

Why “HopeCo”?

We exist to bring hope and transformation to the lives of suffering children, families, and communities with compassion and excellence. We believe in the power of a vibrant, living Hope that brings rescue and restoration from violence, abuse, poverty, and despair.

We accomplish our mission as we serve and grow together, sharing our faith in Jesus, nurturing healthy partnerships, and empowering the weak. Together we will see new hope flourish. Together we are HopeCo.

Will there still be a “City of Hope” in Tanzania?

Yes! Our flagship program in Tanzania will continue to be called City of Hope - but HopeCo will be our overarching name as we expand our partnerships and programs into new locations and around the US!

Must I change anything if my gifts are charged automatically to my credit card or bank?

No, you don’t have to do anything! If you have arranged to make payments to us automatically through your credit card or bank, your gifts will still come to us, just as before.

Who should I make my check payable to?

Checks can be made payable to HopeCo. But don’t worry if you forget and send us a check made out to Teamwork City of Hope or Teamwork Ministries – our bank will still accept these!

Will my donations still be tax-deductible?

Yes! Our change in name does not impact our status as a 501(c)3 organization in any way.

What about your website?

Along with our new name, we’re excited to be launching a new-look website on July 1! We’ll be sharing the new web address soon – but you will still be able to access this through our current web address!

Will any other contact details change?

No - our office mailing address and phone number will remain the same.

What if I have other questions?
