“I'm so afraid this girl will soon become a victim of all manner of abuse in the slums…we need to help her.”

– Hudson Mahare, East Africa Regional Director

You may have just read about Gladys* in our July Impact Report. She lives with her mom and two siblings in a Kenyan slum. But when times got tougher than usual this year, she had to drop out of the 9th grade, do laundry, and sell ground nuts in the market (pictured above) – to help her mom make ends meet.

At our Family Empowerment Center–Machakos (FEC-Machakos), we’re not just telling children, like Gladys, about Jesus—we’re showing them His love through action: enrolling them in local schools, offering them nutritious meals, a safe place to do homework and enjoy time with one another, with opportunities to share their struggles with our trained staff.

But there’s much more to be done!

The time to bring hope and revival to more children and families like Gladys in this community is NOW! With urgent needs like

  • SIX NEW SEWING MACHINES ($255/each)

  • WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM ($2,500)

  • VOCATIONAL TRAINING ($5,000)

GLADYS UPDATE FROM HUDSON:
We thank God that through our FEC-Machakos, we were
able to get Gladys back in school! She and her mom both
cried a lot
and were very grateful. God is good!”
