Remembering Hilda Boke Mahare
HopeCo Kenya Programs Director
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
Psalm 116:15 (KJV)
With deep sadness, we remember Hilda Boke Mahare, beloved wife of Hudson Mahare, our East Africa Director, who passed away unexpectedly in Kenya after a brief hospitalization on
February 7, 2026.
Hilda will be fondly remembered as a woman who loved the Lord and actively lived out her faith. A loving, devoted wife and mother of four children, she faithfully served as HopeCo Kenya Programs Director, filling many roles with grace and strength.
She was passionate about seeing the lives of vulnerable girls and young women transformed by the power of Jesus. As a counselor and teacher, Hilda provided leadership for HopeCo’s Women’s Empowerment Program and was the inspiration behind opening the House of Faraja in Kenya.
“Household buoyancy will remain a mirage
if the women are not empowered.”
- Hilda Boke Mahare, Kenya Programs Director
In honor of Hilda’s legacy, the House of Faraja Safe House will be renamed Hilda’s Legacy House. Our prayers are that Hilda’s Legacy House will continue to be a refuge of healing and hope for young girls who have lost all hope.
Your generous gift to Hilda’s Legacy House not only honors her legacy but also brings hope to young girls who need it most. Together, we’re creating a place of protection, restoration, and new beginnings – and helping rescue even more girls from harm.
Thank you for remembering to pray for Hudson and their four children. Click here to leave a note of condolence and we will share your expression of sympathy with the family.
Thank you.
