 Welcome to the Vision Team!

We are excited you will be joining HopeCo for this special trip! Our goal is to equip you before, during, and after your time in East Africa. Below you will find resources and information. We hope you’ll take the time to read each section.

Tentative Schedule:

Wednesday, November 4 - Vision Team departs from the US.

Thursday, November 5 - Team arrives in Nairobi, Kenya in the evening. Spend the night at the Weston Hotel.

Friday, November 6 - Early breakfast. Short flight to Migori, Kenya. Visit Women's Empowerment Program in Sirari. Cross border into Tanzania and travel by van to City of Hope in Ntagacha, Tanzania.

Saturday, November 7 - Orientation and tour of City of Hope, Amani Medical Center, COH Boys’ Town.

Sunday, November 8 - Attend worship service with the children and staff of City of Hope.

Monday, November 9 - Tuesday, November 10 - Two-day safari in Serengeti National Park and return to City of Hope. Participate in a special evening program.

Wednesday, November 11 - Early breakfast. Cross border into Kenya. Fly back to Nairobi. Visit Family Empowerment Center - Machakos, special dinner, and spend night at the Weston Hotel.

Thursday, November 12 - Visit Hilda’s Legacy House. Shopping and dinner. Depart for the US in evening.

Friday, November 13 - Arrive back in the US

Your First Steps

Please complete these initial steps promptly.

Important Dates to Remember

4 months prior to departure (July 1, 2026)

  • Apply for or renew passport, if needed.

NOTE: Passports must expire at least 6 months after return date.

3 months prior to departure (Aug 1, 2026)

Complete Your First Steps:

  • Complete Registration forms.

  • Submit Background check.

  • Participate in online Child Safety Training and complete Quiz.

  • Pay Deposit.

  • Read Mission Team Handbook.

  • Watch Training Videos.

45 days prior to departure (Sept 15, 2026)

Make an appointment for:

  • Yellow Fever immunization (required).

  • Any optional immunizations (tetanus, hepatitis, etc).

  • Discuss with your doctor any other necessary medications.

30 days prior to departure (OCt 1, 2026)

  • Pay remaining balance to HopeCo.

  • Apply for your Kenya & Tanzania visas.

Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults

HopeCo takes the protection of children very seriously. The child’s safety and best interests are always our primary concern and consideration. We believe that child abuse is an atrocity that is never acceptable.

HopeCo is a member of Keeping Children Safe, an international network of organizations committed to the highest possible safeguarding standards. These include developing clear policies, training our teams and children, thorough vetting of all staff and volunteers, and rigorous accountability processes.

We have A comprehensive safeguarding policy and have zero tolerance for any form of abuse of children or adults.
